World War Two Day
The children came to school dressed as evacuees.
They heard Chamberlain’s speech declaring that England was now at war with Germany as Hitler’s troops had invaded Poland.
During the blitz, they took cover under their Morrison Shelter’s to escape from the bombs.
As city life was not safe, they were evacuated to the countryside and sang songs to keep their spirits up.
‘We’re going to the country’ and ‘Run rabbit, run rabbit’
Year six had a great day and enjoyed looked at artefacts from the time of the war. Their sketches are amazing!
