Welcome to our class page

About the class teacher

Hello and welcome to Year 3/4’s class website page. Here you will find a bit about me along with any important information to help you throughout the year. This year we have lots of exciting topics planned in which we will share with you below.

Our PE day is on a  Monday, please come into school in your full PE kit and all black trainers or pumps

Expectations for reading at home

Reading is a very important skill to learn and at Moorfield we expect children to read at least 3 times per week at home in addition to the reading lessons in school. If you do this, then you will be awarded a reading owl. You can be awarded a bronze, silver or gold owl depending on the amount of times you read during the half term.

History/Geography topic for term

This term, we will be studying the Arctic and Antarctic. We will learn about what is like to be an Antarctic explorer by reading Shackleton’s journey. We will do plenty of map work, locating the Arctic and Antarctic circle and the Equator on a map. In addition to this, we will look at how the Antarctic and Arctic are similar and different and how the areas are in danger.

Science topic

This term in Science we will look at Animals including Humans and Electricity. In our Animals including Humans topic, we will be classifying animals and looking at food groups. We will also learn about the skeletal and digestive system. During our electricity topic, we will learn about electrical safety, identify appliances that run on electricity, construct simple circuits and recognise common insulators and conductors.

Homework days: SPAG/Reading/Maths

Reciprocal reading and maths homework is set every Monday and due in on the following Friday. Weekly spellings are also sent home on Monday, followed by a spelling test on the following Friday.

I would just like to say how proud I am of our current Year 3/4’s and how well they have settled into school again after such a long time off- keep up the hard work Year 3/4!
