Sports Play Leaders

Research tells us that there are many benefits to purposeful play, including developing cognitive skills, social skills, physical development and emotional development.

At Moorfield we believe that all children are entitled to active and enjoyable playtimes. We have, therefore, developed a programme where Year 6 pupils volunteer to help organise and oversee activities for the younger pupils within the school. These volunteers, known as Play Leaders, gain much experience in developing leadership skills and confidence with working with others.

The Play Leaders run activities in the infant playground for children in Reception and Key Stage One classes from 12:30-1:00pm. Everyone is welcome to the activity or game. The Play Leaders focus the children during the activities or games to uphold the School Games values which are determination, passion, respect, honesty, self-belief and teamwork. At the end of each play leader session the play leaders will award children with stickers if they have shown a particular value that day.
