British Values

In 2014 the DfE informed schools that they should demonstrate the teaching of British values to children during their Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural lessons. These fundamental British values (democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect, and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs) are designed to teach children the difference between right and wrong and support their judgement in making good choices. Our teaching of these values is coupled with our school values (consideration, respect, integrity, perseverance, and curiosity) in developing rounded children.

Our curriculum is used creatively in teaching these aspects and includes: PSHCE lessons, themed days, celebration events, Circle Time, stories, and assemblies.

We actively encourage our children to be open minded and to learn about others. Within this we actively promote tolerance and mutual understanding. Parents can support the school with message by promoting the Government’s stance on hate crime – read here.
