Year 1/2 – Miss Wakefield

Welcome to Year 1/2! The children have made an excellent start to the new term and I am very proud of them already. We have a very busy but exciting half term ahead of us.

My name is Miss Wakefield and I have been teaching for 8 years now. At home, I have a mischievous kitten called Dolly who you will hear lots of funny stories about. In school, I enjoy creating a classroom that is a calm, welcoming space where everyone feels valued, supported and ready to be the best that they can be. My favourite mottos, which you will hear me say a lot, are “Mistakes are proof that you are trying” and “You can’t do it YET!” I love sharing and discussing books and I am looking forward to showing you some of my favourites and hearing about yours too.

This year, our class will work together in the afternoons and in separate year group classes in the mornings. Each morning Year 2 children will work with Miss Wakefield and Year 1 children will work with Mrs Whitfield.

Hello, I am Mrs Whitfield, a part time teacher. I live locally with my husband and our children. We have two children, Ella and Louis, who attend a local high school. I enjoy spending time with my family and love to travel. Before my children were born, I taught in a primary school in New Zealand for four years. I began teaching at Moorfield, as an NQT, in 2001 and apart from my time in New Zealand have had a variety of roles within the school ever since. I will be teaching Year 1 each morning in our lovely little classroom. All of our Goldilocks work is on display so the room is looking fantastic! Our classroom is also full of positive quotes to help the children understand that it is okay to ask for help and that it is completely fine to not understand something first time.
