Moorfield v St Michael’s Primary School 8-1

Today Moorfield took to the the road for their first away game of the season. With the boys eager to put things right they used Tuesday night’s draw as their motivation to put a smile back on Mr Lynch’s face.

It didn’t take long for the deadlock to be broken with a wonderful strike by Jack Campbell piercing the back of the net. With all seven boys working well, moving the ball from one side of the pitch to the other, the second and third came in quick succession with goals from Liam Hayes and an unfortunate own goal.

With James McMahon, Cian Brown and Connor Simons holding the fort in defence and Logan `the leaping salmon’ Walsh pulling off some miraculous saves, Moorfield were able to stay in control of the game going in at half time 3-1.

In the second half Moorfield were relentless, rarely giving the ball away and constantly asking questions of the St Michael’s defence. Goals started to flow with inspiration from Captain Nathan Percival bagging himself a double with great strikes. Owen Jones added great energy and flair with his involvement on the wing placing some lovely passes to teammates who went onto score. It was great team play and the boys fully deserved their win.

Man of the match went to Logan Walsh who was fantastic between the sticks making sure Moorfield came out on top.
